DISTRESS YOUR STENCIL – STAR NURSERY

Hello stencil people! After we had done our Paint Your stencils with a paint roller video and blog, I thought I would experiment and distress the stencilled stars I had painted!

Experimenting with distressing stencilled stars

So I got out some fine sandpaper and started to distress them. You can see the results below. I thought that the result was really interesting and so thought it would be good to share this idea. The results of sanding back the paint made the stars looks aged and scratched and I imagine that a whole wall of stencilled and distressed stars would look visually awesome.

A good rustic nursery feature wall idea?

This hand painted wall decor idea in a stripped back, simplistic and rustic nursery would look really cool and effective. I am a fan of the distressed look and think that a repeated stencilled pattern where each repeat is individual is more unique, so this is just another option in achieving that look.

So the overall effect would look something like this:

What do you think? Do you like this look? Perhaps a distressed damask pattern would also look effective in a rustic, simplistic living room…Let us know your thoughts!!

If you like it grab yourself a star stencil and create your own feature wall!
